چکیده

Traffic networks inherently exhibit several degrees of decomposition, both hierarchically and geographically, and traffic control has been, in practice, severely influenced by this decomposition. Anticipatory Traffic Control literature (Allsop, 1974), in its own, deals with the fact that user behavior can be, at least to some degree, predicted, and that an “optimal” controller should take this behavioral response into account when determining the best strategy to apply. While historically rooted in the field of Static Assignment, in recent years researchers have been looking into translating Anticipatory Traffic Control in dynamic networks, aiming at exploiting the inherent advantages on real-life instances (Taale, 2008), (Taale and Hoogendoorn, 2012), (Ukkusuri et al., 2013).

An Optimal Dynamic Control Method for an Isolated Intersection Using Fuzzy Systems

Traffic flow systems are nonlinear and uncertain, so it is very difficult to find their optimal points. In traditional traffic control systems, the traffic lights of crossings change in a fixed time period that is not optimal. On the other hand, most proposed systems are sufficiently capable of coping with the uncertainties of traffic flow. To solve this problem, there is a need to develop expe...

Towards Anticipatory Traffic Forecast – Modelling of Route Choice Behaviour

This paper discusses a framework which considers the behaviour of drivers as a mean to achieve an anticipatory traffic forecast. We introduce a two-layer agent-based architecture for the simulation of traffic flow and consider a simple scenario in which agents (drivers) receive dynamic information about traffic conditions. It is shown that in such scenarios, with information being a key commodi...

Real-time Physically-based Interaction between Avatars and Virtual Environments

We present an interactive technique on virtual contact handling for avatars in virtual environments using XXX. If a contact has occurred between an articulated avatar and a virtual environment, the global penetration depth and contact points are estimated based on a fast local penetration depth computation for decomposed convex pieces. The penetration depth and contact information are used for ...

Penalized Bregman Divergence Estimation via Coordinate Descent

Variable selection via penalized estimation is appealing for dimension reduction. For penalized linear regression, Efron, et al. (2004) introduced the LARS algorithm. Recently, the coordinate descent (CD) algorithm was developed by Friedman, et al. (2007) for penalized linear regression and penalized logistic regression and was shown to gain computational superiority. This paper explores...
